Writhen Buckle and Chape

$7.00$19.00 single piece or set

You know how much we love items that we base on extant molds – this one is a double treat! The chape is copied from a mold at the Museum of London. The mold is late 14th- or early 15th-century, made of fine-grained limestone, and was found in the Thames at Billingsgate in 1984.The buckle is copied from a mold found in Salisbury. Only the back of the mold is extant, so we made the decoration on the front match that on the chape. We have an album on the sources of these pieces at https://www.facebook.com/88018184734/photos/?tab=album&album_id=10153954113079735.
