Sn $2 “needle case” “needle cases” “needlecases”
$17.00
This needlecase is a pastiche. The form – a tall tower with a pointed roof – is copied after an early fifteenth-century tin needlecase found in Nieuwlande. The case has an illegible inscription, so we have supplied an inscription from a similar needlecase found in London: a period-appropriate invocation to the Blessed Virgin and the name of the Three Kings of Cologne (the Magi).
The upper and lower parts are strung together on cords much as contemporary leather etuis are made. We supply it with red, black, or blue string and tassels – if you have a preference, please put it in the note field when you order. (Otherwise, we will ship whichever we take out of the box randomly.)
This item is tremendously popular with seamstresses and broidresses. It is a guaranteed winner as a gift for your favorite medieval needle jockey.
