Horseshoe Pendant
$6.00
Horseshoes have been considered lucky for centuries, bringing good luck or warding off bad, and protecting people (and horses) against evil spirits. Full size examples were nailed to doors to prevent the passage of those with ill intentions. There are many examples of these charms in the extant pewter pendants and brooches, suggesting that portable versions were also considered effective.
Our horseshoe pendant is copied after examples dated 1375-1450, found in the Netherlands. The horseshoe has four holes for decorative additions; the most complete original has small studs with seven dots inserted, and we offer that style. There are contemporary brooches of horseshoes with six inserted decorations of glass stones in beaded settings, and we offer that decoration in the pendant as well. And then, because nothing exceeds like excess, we have fancy horseshoes with large glittering inserts and splendid glass stones. Good, better, and best luck? It’s up to you!
See the photos in the gallery and the list in the pull-down menu for colors available. Want a color we don’t list? Ask – we may have the stone in stock. And if you want a mix of stones – for your personal or group heraldic colors or just because, order a mix and be sure to tell us in the note what you want.
Good Luck to All!
